Christmas Party at Deutsche Schule Jakarta

Santa came early this year, visiting the German School Jakarta on Saturday December 10. The famous, yearly DSJ “Weihnachtsfest” elevated our school community into a festive spirit just in time before everyone heads "home for Christmas".

Our students, together with the help of teachers and parents, had prepared many craft stations where children of all ages could create great Christmas gifts for their loved ones; such as scented candles, print stencils, the famous German “Lebkuchen”, paper stars and many other things.

A hint of "Kristkindl Markt" atmosphere was in the air thanks to yummy food and beverages such as "Glühwein & Kinder Punsch", as well as tasty homemade cakes and cookies prepared by our 12th graders. In addition, there was a little Christmas bazaar where lovely Christmas items could be purchased.

At 5 pm the performances started in the auditorium with students from all grades, including preschool and kindergarten, showing off their Christmas dance- & singing-skills next to our beautiful Christmas tree. Especially the performances of our smallest ones and a candle dance by grade one warmed the hearts of all spectators. To wrap up the auditorium show, the school orchestra played several Christmas songs, including "Silent Night, Holy Night" which we all sang together in German, English and Indonesian.

After that everyone gathered in the school hall while listening to the school- and parents'- band performing on stage. Classics like "Last Christmas" were played, making everyone forget the close to 30° degree outside temperature and finally feeling totally Christmas-y!
