Since 2017, Elysa Hati has been a valued member of the German School Jakarta (DSJ), bringing both expertise and enthusiasm to her teaching. As a DaF (German as a Foreign Language) teacher in the Primary and Preschool sections, she inspires her students with her passion for the German language and creates a learning environment where curiosity, joy, and openness come first. After completing her degree in German as a Foreign Language at Universitas Negeri Malang, she began her teaching career in 2014. From 2024 to 2025, she took part in a professional development program in Germany to deepen her pedagogical knowledge and gather new ideas for her teaching—an experience that continues to shape and enrich her work at DSJ.
What Frau Elysa enjoys most about teaching is guiding her students and witnessing their growth. She appreciates the positive atmosphere at DSJ and even mentions the school’s swimming pool as part of what makes it such a pleasant and inspiring place to learn. Her teaching motto, “Mistakes are not enemies – they are lessons,” encourages her students to learn with curiosity, courage, and joy.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, bouldering, swimming, and cycling. A true animal lover—especially fond of cats—she jokingly says she can understand their language. Her favorite quote by H. G. Wells is: “There is no intelligence where there is no change and no need to change.” With her curiosity, warmth, and commitment, she helps make DSJ a place of learning, discovery, and personal growth.
