Frau Ines P. Setiawan has been teaching at the DSJ since 2009 and has been a teacher since 2001. She studied at Pelita Harapan University and teaches Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science in Grades 5 and 6. Inspired by the book Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat (3 Idiots), she decided to become a teacher. For her, the best part of her profession is seeing Lao Tzu’s words come to life: “When the student is ready, the teacher appears. When the student is truly ready, the teacher disappears.” What she values most about the DSJ is its students and the diversity of the school community. Her pedagogical motto is: Human beings are more than the sum of their parts.

In her free time, Frau Ines enjoys reading, writing, experimenting, travelling, and gardening. Her favorite quote is: “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” But she also believes that “nothing can’t be fixed with a cup of good coffee.” Her secret talent is growing bacteria, mold, and mushrooms instead of pets. Her personal message is summed up in one word: Ikigai.
