Irene Bietsch is a Primary Teacher at the Deutsche Schule Jakarta, teaching Mathematics, English, and German. She studied at the University of Münster and has been teaching since 2014; she joined DSJ in 2020.
Frau Bietsch became a teacher because she discovered her joy in working with children during a holiday job at a riding stable and finds it fulfilling and meaningful to contribute to the foundations of children’s education. The best part of her job is the daily contact with children – their curiosity, joy, trust, thoughts, questions, ideas, innocence, and openness. What Frau Bietsch values most about DSJ is the coming together and collaboration of different cultures, religions, and life paths.
Her pedagogical motto is: “We are different – and that’s a good thing.” Her hobbies include horse riding, dancing, reading, and exploring nature and the sea in Indonesia. Her favorite quote is: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
