Subjects: English, Geography

Frau Ballmann is a teacher and media coordinator at the German School Jakarta, where she teaches English and Geography. She studied at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg and the University of Middlesbrough. Having been a teacher since 2015, she has been part of the DSJ team since 2025.

Becoming a teacher was a deliberate choice for Frau Ballmann: she wants to make the world a little better – and believes the best place to start is with young people. As a teacher, she shapes lives, supports growth, and passes on not only knowledge but also values. What she loves most about her profession is seeing the joy on children’s faces when they discover something new.

What makes DSJ special to her is the opportunity to truly live multicultural learning – in an environment that embraces and celebrates diversity. Her educational motto is: Challenge and support – with heart and consistency.

In her free time, Frau Ballmann enjoys dancing, learning new languages, and travelling the world. Her favourite quote reflects her cheerful outlook on life: “Keep calm and eat a cupcake!”
Her secret talent is encouraging others to believe in themselves and to try new things. Or, as she puts it: “Never stop exploring – always stay curious. There is so much to discover in this world. And be grateful for the chance to do so.”
