After a long pandemic-induced break, our fun-filled swimming festival finally took place last Friday, on May 12, 2023. And boy was it worth it!

The day before, our awesome staff members prepared the pool. Ropes were stretched, pavilions with rows of chairs were set up, and large banners were hung. Under perfect conditions and a radiant blue sky, the first starting shot was fired on Friday morning by primary teacher Ulrich Ogon.

Our youngest water enthusiasts from 1st grade eagerly jumped into the pool, amidst cheering applause, and reached the opposite "shore" of the 25m pool. The fastest swimmers were rewarded with ribbons upon their arrival. With the same enthusiasm, students from grades 1 to 12 swam 25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle one after the other. Later, their ability to dive as long as possible was put to the test, with some managing to dive the entire 25m. A few even turned around and dove 44m, like Max from 7th grade.

In addition to the thrilling swimming competitions, our athletes, parents, and guests were treated to an extensive program. Students from grades 10 to 12 supervised various sports games and a movement landscape in our sports hall. On the field, there was a water slide and sponge battles. At our sponsor's booth, Kalbe, fitness tests were offered. Food and drinks were also provided for everyone's enjoyment. Our water enthusiasts could replenish their energy with fruits, beverages, and hotdogs. To top it all off, there was a "relay showdown" between students, teachers, and parents. To everyone's surprise, the teachers' women team, consisting of Steffi, Caro, Antonia, and Marieke, emerged as the clear winners!

After a lunch break with a potluck, all the winners were celebrated in the auditorium. The top three girls and boys from each grade finally received their long-awaited medals amidst thunderous applause. You find this Year's winners below. We extend our congratulations.

A special thanks goes to those parents who helped plan and support us before and during the festival, our generous sponsor Kalbe, as well as the students and colleagues for their tremendous dedication. We are already looking forward to the next "Schwimmfest". Enjoy the fantastic images taken — you can download these and plenty more here (for personal use only).
